Tory party has policies that benefit elderly (raised state pension and raised winter fuel allowance) older people have reached peak of their income and stand to financially gain from such policies
Labour tackles issues young people care about like climate change and discrimination as well as education and youth unemployment through scrapping tuition fees and raising min wage

In 2015 47% of people in Upper class voted Tory and 47% in lower class voted Labour
Yougov study showed 45% of ukip voters ( mostly Lower class ) switched to tory in 2017
2019 48% of Lower class people voted Tory
Social class - analysis
Tory party policies keep the rich richer by allowing people to keep the wealth they’ve accumulated
Labour policies improve welfare system and helping those in need and improving education and raising min wage
Class dealignment- people no longer have loyalties to certain parties based on class (decline in trad industries like coal, increase in education and social mobility)

First televised TV debate in 2010 gained audience of 9.4 million beating popular shows
Lib dems increased popularity making it a three party race
In 2019 Theresa may did not attend the debate and was criticised yet the tory party saw an increase in votes and won the election the debate was only watched by 4.7 mil
Media - analysis
TV debates influential as allows smaller parties to be seen and allow the general public to see how leaders behave and their responses to issues
Less influential as the tory party leader was publicly embarrassed but due to the decrease in viewership it did not affect her chances of winning and she went on to lead the country
