How do policies affect the way individuals vote
Voters will look at the policies in the party’s manifestos and make a decision based on one significant/a range of important policies they think the government will enact.
Examples of policies
2019- Boris Johnson wins the election with the slogan ‘Get Brexit Done’
1997- Tony Blair wins with ‘New Labour’ policies of economic centrism.
How will performance in office affect how individuals vote?
If The economy is successful and the government is competent, then they will be re-elected.
Examples of performance in office
1979- After the ‘Winter of Discontent’ Thatcher won with a landslide.
2010- After the 2008 financial crisis, David Cameron beats Gordon Brown in 2010.
How does leadership affect how individuals vote?
It is impossible to win an election with an unpopular leader.

- Tony Blair- Young, charismatic, very media savvy.
How does image affect how individuals vote?
voters may make their choice based on the party’s image. May be positive or negative

TACTICAL VOTING is when a voter supports a candidate other than his or her sincere preference in order to prevent an undesirable outcome.
