Vor/ILS AND TACAN Flashcards
What is the purpose of the ILS?
Three component system (localizer, glide scope, and marker beacon) used to direct the pilot to the runway by providing vertical and horizontal guidance.
VOR/ILS::
The receiver is compromised of which 3 sections?
Marker beacon, VOR/localizer, glide slope
Where is the VOR/Loc antenna mounted?
Tail of the aircraft
Where is the glide scope antenna mounted?
Nose of the aircraft
Where is the marker beacon antenna mounted?
Underside of the aircraft
VOR/ILS::
What does the bearing distance indicator (BDI) display?
VOR bearing, aircraft heading, and DME
VOR/ILS::
What does the HSI display?
VOR bearing, to/from, GS deviation, and valid signal flags.
VOR/ILS::
What doeWhat does the ADI DISPLAY?
Localizer and glide slope deviation
What are the three marker beacon indicator colors?
White, Amber , blue
At what distances are the marker beacon notifications shown for “inner marker,” “middle marker,” and “outer marker?”
IM: 3000Hz, 1500 feet from runway
MM: 1300Hz, 2/3 mile
OM: 400Hz, 5 mile
What are the frequency ranges for VOR?
108.00-112.00 MHz (even tenth a only)
Or
112.00-117.95 MHz(.05 MHz steps)
What are the frequency ranges for the localizer?
108.10-111.95 MHz (odd tenth only)
What is the purpose of TACAN?
To provide accurate aircraft position in reference to a tacan station through the use of radio ranging and Rf phase relationship.
What information will the TACAN system provide?
TACAN station identification audio, relative bearing, slant range distance
What is DME used for?
The distance measuring equipment responds to interrogation pulses from an airborne TACAN that uses this information got slant range determination.
