VOR Flashcards
VOR
VHF Omnidirectional Range
VOR Frequency
VHF 108 to 117.95
from 108 to 112 only even number 108.0 - 108. 02 .20 .25…
identification keyd AM audio every 30 second
A9W horizontal polarization
doppler VOR 30 Hz
Type of VOR
EN ROUTE 112 to 117.95 200 W 200 NM
TERMINAL 108 to 11.85 50 W 25 NM
BROADCAST ATIS
VOT -> TEST radial 360 +-4
principle of operation
phase comparison between 2 signal, reference and variable, the angle between the 2 it give a phase and it is the radial from the beacon.
Non directional antenna connected to a rotating loop antenna that rotate at 30 rps create a limacon.. Non direction is the reference and il 30 hz FM while the limacon is 30 Hz AM.
CVOR
single antenna less precise
DVOR
it use the doppler effect with 360 antenna
reference signal 30 AM
variphase 30 FM
automatic site monitor
phase difference > 1
signal strenght reduce of 15%
monitor fails
DON’T USE IF NO IDENTIFICATION
errors
site(obstacle neat Tx, error reduce in DVOR)
propagation(bends, scalopping terrain)
airborn equipment
Accurancy
+- 5° all day
range
Tx power en route 200 W
Terminal 50 W
DOC
designated Operational Coverage to avoid inteference and is in protected range
cone of confusion
when fly above the VOR it is present a cone of confusion where the a/c lose the signal.
the time depends of the height speed and angle of cone( minimum 40°)
airborne equipment
aerial reciever and control unit indicator that can be OBI Omnibearing indicato RMI Radiomagnetic indicator Horizontal situation indicator
