What is vomiting?
Caused by the disturbance of stomach qi and rebellious of stomach qi.
What can vomiting be caused by?
Invading of EPI’s, improper diet, preference of greasy food, emotions, overwork/chronic disease, spicy food, LV fire.
What is hiccup?
Involuntary spasm of the glottis and diaphragm causing hiccup sound. Rebellious qi in TCM.
What is dysphasia?
Difficulty in swallowing and the inability to swallow. Caused by narrowness and dryness in the esophagus. Usually caused by improper diet and emotions.
What does sudden vomiting with lots of vomitus indicate?
Excess.
What does chronic vomiting with less vomitus indicate?
Deficiency.
What does clear vomitus without smell indicate?
Cold.
What does turbid vomitus with a strong smell indicate?
Heat.
What does acid and decomposed vomitus with undigested food indicate?
Retention of food.
What does undigested food without acid smell, frequent nausea but the vomitus is not much indicate?
LV qi stagnation.
What does yellow or green bitter taste fluid or with acid regurgitation indicate?
LV fire.
What does first food, then watery like fluid, and then bile, thirsty but don’t like to drink indicate?
ST yin deficiency.
What does watery like fluid or sputum indicate?
Retention of phlegm.
What does fresh blood, dark red blood clots, with food residue in the vomit indicate?
Injury of blood vessels.
What is the number one formula for vomitting?
Huo xiang zhen qi tang.
