Often seen in the acute stage of hepatitis, cholecystitis, gallstone and herpes zoster.

Clear heat and eliminate dampness, sooth LV qi and stop pain.
What is the formula damp-heat?
Long dan xie gan tang.
Which pattern includes stabbing pain in the hypochondriac region, the pain is fixed and worse at night, sometimes a mass can be palpated in the hypochondrium, dark purple tongue, deep and chopping pulse? Often seen in cirrhosis, hepatic cancer, and late-stage hepatitis with enlargement of the spleen and liver.
Blood stasis.

Promote blood circulation and remove blood stasis.

Xue fu zhu yu tang.
What points are indicated for blood stasis?
LV14, SJ6, GB34, UB17, 18.
Which pattern includes dull pain in the hypochondrium, consistent, worse after overwork, dry mouth and throat, irritability hot sensation in the five centers, dizziness, blurred vision, red tongue, less coating, thready, wiry and rapid pulse?
LV yin deficiency.

Nourish LV yin, soften the LV, nourish blood and clear the collaterals.
