Cimate change
What is a shield volcano
Shallow sided and broad. Formed when basalt cools as it runs down the summit Center.
Eruptions are usually gentle, and make good tourist attractions
Not too destructive
Not very viscus
Mauna Loa Hawaii - example
What is a composite volcano
Are formed from alternating eruptions of ash, tephra and lava which builds up the volcano in layers.
Dangerous sites
Often lead to large scale eruptions
Very viscus
Mount Rainer Washington - Washington
