VOL / NON-NORMAL Flashcards

Q

WINDSHEAR

A

DETECTION

On ground

  • Unusual lack of speed acceleration during rolling phase ;
  • Unusual time to reach V1/VR.

In flight

Unacceptable flight path deviations recognized as uncontrolled changes from normal steady state flight conditions below 1,000 ft AGL :

  • Speed variations of more then15 kt ;
  • Groundspeed variations (decreasing head wind or increasing tail wind, or a shift from head wind to tail wind) ;
  • VS excursions of 500 ft/min or more ;
  • Pitch attitude excursions of 5° or more ;
  • Glide slope deviation of one dot or more ;
  • Heading variations of 10° or more ;
  • Unusual Power Lever activity or unusual PL position for a significant period of time ;
  • Or a combination of all these effects.

Q

TCAS RA

A

Average pitch attitudes are :

  • +/- 5º for climb or descent orders ;
  • +/- 8º for increase climb or increase descent orders ;
  • +/- 1º for adjust vertical speed orders (following climb or descent orders) ;
  • For all other cases follow green sector indication.

If a TCAS warning is experienced, it must be reported to ATC immediately and an Air Safety Report must be completed after the flight.
