What does “in transit” mean?
is the time it takes for a company to reach their assignment area after receiving an order.
What must the company officer do while “in transit”
monitor the tactical radio channel, upon arrival to assignment he must provide a radio announcement to IC or face to face with Sector Officer.
What is “on deck” defined as?
a forward staging position located just outside the immediate hazard zone, safely distanced from the entrance of a tactical position/Sector.

- park apparatus so it does not block the scene
- Full PPE
- forecast the need for tools and collect them
- report directly to assigned location and report to IC or sector officer
What should be included in “on deck” crews area size up?
- Locating the structures entrance/exit points in their assigned area
- Interior and exterior conditions
- Unit ID of crews operating inside the structure
- Approximate location of interior crews
- Identify which crews are operating each hose line
What info should be transferred to “on deck” crews that are relief crews during a face to face?
- Interior conditions
- Routing instructions to the work area
- Interior obstructions
- Additional tools/resources required
