Pharmacokinetics
The movement of drugs through the body within the process of liberation or dissolution, absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion.
Liberation
The freeing of drugs from their vehicle of administration, such as the capsule, the time-release pearls, or the other nondrug components of the preparation.
Absorption
The time frame and amount of drug absorbed from the site of administration to the bloodstream.
Distribution
The route and method by which the drug moves to the target tissues.
Metabolism
The reduction of the drug and drug metabolites in the body, where the drug goes from an active to an inactive state.
Excretion
The process where the drug or its metabolites are released from the body.
