What is the Constitution?
The systems of morals by which a country lives or the document in which these are written
Define Impeach
To formally accuse the president of the crimes specified in the Constitution. Examples are ‘Bribery, or other high crimes and Misdemeanors’
What is a Bill?
A proposal for a law
What is a Delegate?
People sent to represent states
Define Amendment
A change to a document
What is Secrecy?
During the convention the most important thing is secrecy, which is to make sure everything stays quiet, because delegates wanted to speak freely without causing alarm or opposition among all the general public
Define Appeal
Asking a higher court to review a case to determine if the decision made was constitutional and they received a fair trial.
Define Veto
A constitutional right to reject a decision or proposal made by a law-making body.
Define Popular sovereignty
The power to govern comes from the citizens
Define Ratify
To sign or give formal consent
Define Elastic Clause
It gives Congress the flexibility needed to do its job
What is majority rule?
The option that gets the most votes is chosen. In congress it is either 2/3 or 3/4
Define Bicameral
two-parts of a legislative body
What is the Electoral College?
The electoral college is made up of electors who cast votes to elect the president and Vice President
