- international affairs: He tried to reduce the strains of the Cold War. He signed a truce which ended the Korean War. He created the U.S. Information Agency.
- National infastructure: He made Alaska and Hawaii states and created the Interstate highway system. He signed a bill to form NASA.
- He felt strongly aging segregation: desegregated schools, desegregated the armed forces a, signed the 1957 civil rights act which led to African American voting and made a permanent civil rights commission.

When he was done with his two terms he made a televised farewell address where he spoke against spending a lot of money, he warned against the Cold War and warned against the military destroying that which it was created to protect.
