A

An abnormal infiltration and excess accumulation of serous fluid in connective tissue or in a serous cavity ( ed and ema both have huge legs and feet that slosh when they walk which is a serious ( serous) problem.

Q

Exudate

A

A fluid with a high content of protein and cellular debris that has escaped from blood vessels and has been deposited in tissues or on tissue surfaces. (Pus) (I toss my cell phone and protein bar on an exit sign and blood vessels drips on to tissues on the ground )

Q

Fistula

A

An abnormal passage that leads from an abscess or hollow organ or part to the body surface, or from one hollow organ to part to another and that may be surgically created to permit passage of fluids or secretion ( a fist punch into the body that creates a hollow passage of fluid or secretion to you ass)

Q

Necrosis

A

Death of cells through injury or disease, especially in a localized area of a tissue or organ. ( Crowbar your sister when she’s playing an organ, you hit her cell phone and make her cry into tissue that nearby (local)

Q

Osteomyelitis

A

An infectious usually painful inflammatory disease of bone that is often of bacterial origin and may result in death of bone tissue. ( my oyster got bacteria on it , lit on fire and now bone is infected )

Peri-wound

A

Tissue surrounding a wound. Limited to 4 cm outside the wound . ( Paris, France surrendered when surrounded by all 4 sides)

Q

Pressure wounds

A

Localized damage to the skin and/ or underlying tissue that usually occur over a bony prominence as a result of usually long-term pressure, or pressure in combination with shear friction. ( the press (media) put pressure on us and cause damage over the long term)

Q

Slough

A

Nonviable tissue on the wound bed surface that is soft, mucinous, or stringy material frequently colonized by multispecies bacterial biofilms. (I get a slow cough from stringy soft mucous)

Q

Biofilm

A

A microbial colony encased in a polysaccharide matrix which can become attached to a wound surface. (A biopic Movie about a colony of potatoes sack riders wounding their surfaces in the matrix )

Q

Undermining

A

Erosion of the tissue underneath the skin. A separating of the wound edges from the healthy tissues, creating a pocket. Dead space . Occurs when a significant erosion occurs underneath the outwardly visible wound margins resulting in more extensive damage beneath the skin surface. (Undertaker mining under the wound )

17
Q

Aerobic bacteria

A

An organism that can survive and grow in an oxygenated environment ((air on back (blowing oxygen) to cause bacteria to grow )

18
Q

Epithelialization

A

The process of becoming covered or converted to epithelium. - a membranous cellular tissue that covers a free surface or lines a tube or cavity and serves especially to enclose and protect the other parts of the body and to produce secretions and excretions. (Epic realization (your remember your cell phone and tissue will produce secretions and excretions to protect your body)

19
Q

Angiogenesis

A

The process through which new blood vessels form from pre-existing vessels . (Angie plays drums and more of her blood vessels form from pre-existing blood vessels)

20
Q

Chronic wound

A

A wound that does not heal in an orderly set of stages , within 3 months or at all. Always inflamed.

21
Q

Collagen

A

A protein which provides the supportive network of connective tissue

22
Q

Erythema

A

Redness of skin ( rash) caused by dilation and congestion of the capillaries, often a sign of inflammation or infection. (Eurythmics sang so loud capillaries dilated and congested / infected the microphone and it burst in flames)

23
Q

Maceration

A

Occurs when skin is in contact with moisture too long . Feels wet, soggy, associated with improper wound care (masterbation and cuming on skin and leaving it makes it soggy . )

24
Q

Wound

A

A physical injury to the body consisting of a laceration or breaking of the skin or mucous membrane often with damage to underlying tissue

25
Contamination
Minimal amounts of microorganisms on the ulcer surface without proliferation.
26
Infection
Invasion of microorganism into the tissue stimulating a host response. (Host infatuated with having multiple orgasms into tissue to get an audience response )
27
Hemosiderin staining
A protein compound that stores iron in your tissues - can accumulate under your skin - may notice yellow, brown, or black staining or a bruise like appearance. Stains most often appear on the lower leg, sometimes covering the space between your knee and ankle. ( he mostly (derained) drained but not all the way and now has discolored skin / looks like burned by an iron )
28
Epibole
Epithelial tissue migrates down sides of the wound instead of across. Edges that roll over will ultimately cease in migration secondary to contact inhibition once epithelial cells of the leading edge come in contact with other epithelial cells. ( epic bowl rolled and curled around the edges of which is an epic deal (epithelial)
29
Callous
Small area of thickened skin , the formation of which is caused by continued friction , pressure, or other physical or chemical irritation
30
Venous leg ulcer (vlu)
A full-thickness defect of skin on the leg or ankle that fails to heal spontaneously and is sustained by chronic venous disease (caused by abnormal or damaged veins)
31
Diabetic foot ulcer (dfu)
An open sore or wound that occurs in approx. 15 % of patients with diabetes, and is commonly located on the bottom of the foot.
32
Ulcer
A crater like sore on the skin or mucous membrane.
33
Offloading
Minimizing or removing weight placed on the foot to help prevent and heal ulcers
34
Anaerobic bacteria
An organism that doesn’t require oxygen for growth. Some react negatively or die when oxygen is present.
35
Colonization
Presence and proliferation of microorganisms on an ulcers surface without a host response but may cause a delay in ulcer healing ( shitty tv station host has no response and causes a delay after micro orgasm)
36
Optimized Purion processing
Has been optimized for retention layer (il). Separation of the amnion and chorion , with attached il, ensures thorough cleansing , of each layer prior to lamination into the tri-layer final configuration.
37
Fenestration
A natural or surgically created opening in a surface
38
Homologous
What the actual product does in its natural state
39
MUE
Medically unlikely Edit- it (CMS system) sets a max number of units that a provider can bill for a particular procedure on a single patient in a single day. If exceeded the claim will be denied.
40
CPT (current procedural terminology )
A coding system used by health care professionals to describe a bill for medical , surgical, and diagnostic services . (Five - digit code) / CMS uses CPT codes to establish reimbursement to medical providers.
