Interventionism -
a government policy or practice of doing things to directly influence the country’s economy or the political affairs of another country.
Era of Good Feelings -
economic prosperity and an increase in American patriotism after the War of 1812 led to a period of success in the United States.
Monroe Doctrine -
an American foreign policy opposing interference in the Western hemisphere from outside powers.
Western Hemisphere -
one half of the world that includes North, Central, and South America
Cede -
to give control of (something) to another person, group, government.
Adams-Onis Treaty -
treaty between Spain and the United States. Spain ceded the Florida territory to the United States
Missouri Compromise -
agreement made in Congress stating that Maine would be entered into the United States as a free state, and Missouri would be entered as a slave state. Also stated no slavery would be allowed north of the 36 parallel.
Writs of Mandamus -
a formal order sent from a higher court to a public official or lower court to carry out a specified action
Jurisdiction -
the power or right to make judgments about the law, to arrest and punish criminals.
Interstate -
existing or occurring between states especially in the U.S
Commerce -
activities that relate to the buying and selling of goods and services.
