Potentially hazardous situations
Fuel Load
The amount of flammable contents in a building or space
Occupancy Classification
A method of categorizing the way that a building or space is used
Occupant Load
The number of people assumed to safely occupy a building or space
Load Factor
A predetermined amount of area for each occupant based on occupant classification and the specific use of the space
Gross Area
The building as a whole, including all miscellaneous spaces
Net Area
The actual occupied spaces only, not ancillary spaces such as corridors, restrooms, closets
Dead Load
The weight of all the permanent components of the buildings structure
Live Load
The weight of things other than the structure itself, such as people, furniture, appliances
