What is the lithosphere
Is a solid. Made of oxygen and silicon. Most abundant in crust.

Liquid. Oceans
Atmosphere
Gas. Troposphere is closest sea level and contains water vapor. Stratosphere contains the ozone layer.

Latitude
Lines run horizontal across like the equator. 0-90 north of south
Longitude
Lines run up and down. East and west of the prime meridian.
Time zones
Separated by 15 degrees of the earths rotation east add a hour west back a hour

Maps that show the elevation of a piece of land
Isoline
Line connecting point of equal value. Isobars- pressure. Isotherm-temp
Contour-elevation
Tick marks
Depressions, the first tick marked line is the same elevation as adjacent contour lines
Contour interval
Amount between contour lines, ocean is sea level 0’
Lines close together
Steep gradient
Direction of streams
Warner goes downhill. Opposite bends in contour lines. “V”
