Evolution
The process by which different kinds of living organisms change over time and are fueled by natural selection
Natural Selection
the process by which an individuals that are better adapted to their environment and are more likely to survive and reproduce than other members of the same species
Over production
when a species of animals produces a great amount of offspring. it can be beneficial because the more offspring, the more likely that more offspring the offspring will survive. but it can be bad if there isn’t enough resources for the offspring to survive
Variation
any differences between individuals of the same species
Adaptation
a trait or behavior that helps an organism survive and reproduce
Homologous Structure
similar structures that related species have inherited from common ancestors
Vestigial structure
structures that animals have but no longer use
