Zionism
a movement for (originally) the re-establishment and (now) the development and protection of a Jewish nation in what is now Israel.
Nationalism
Pride in one’s nation; the desire of a cultural group to rule themselves as a separate nation
Immigrants
People who move into another country
Emigrants
People who move out of a country
Relative location
The position of a place in relation to another place
Authoritarian
Leaders hold all political power, people cannot express their opinions
Totalitarianism
Most extreme form, where the government controls all aspects of society
Monarchy
Kings, queens, Pharaohs, Shahs, and Sultans who inherit their positions through blood
Democracy
People choose their leaders and have the power to set up their government
Market Economy
Free enterprise system; freedom to individuals and groups
Capitalism
Private groups decide goods produced and their prices
Command Economy
Controlled by a central government, who makes all the decisions
Communism
A state that owns and operates all business called “planned economies”
Mixed Economy
Mix of traditional, command, and market economies
Socialism
State owns basic businesses, private ones own the rest
