Electrical Transformers
They transform voltages from one value to another.
Electric Motors
a machine that converts electrical energy into mechanical energy
Electrical Generator
induce an EMF by rotating a coil in a magnetic field.
Magnetic Field
the magnetic forces that surround an object at all points in space.
Compass
a device containing a magnet that interacts with Earth’s magnetic field to indicate direction.
Induction
is the production of an electromotive force across an electrical conductor in a changing magnetic field.
Electromagnetism
Science of charge and of the forces and fields associated with charge. Electricity and magnetism are the two aspects of it
Conductor
a material with low electrical resistance such as copper or aluminum.
Insulator
A material with high electrical resistance. Plastic and rubber are good insulators.
Closed Circuit
a circuit with no breaks in which charge flows (aka a complete circuit).
Open Circuit
a circuit with a break in which charge can’t flow (aka an incomplete circuit).
Voltage
a measure of the difference in electric potential energy carried by the current at two locations.
Electrical Current
the flow of electric charge.
Series Circuit
An electric circuit that has only one path for current to flow
Parallel Circuit
an electric circuit with more than one path, or branch, for an electric current to flow
