GTT 3 - Drones to the Rescue Flashcards
Military
Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) are used for surveillance and patrol.
Human Aid and Disaster and Relief
Drones are used to locate victims, assess damage, and deliver aid where needed.
Agriculture
Farmers use drones to gather data automate repetitive processes, and improve overall efficiency.
Weather Forcasting
Drones are used for data collection to help study the climate and better predict future changes to global weather systems.
Infrastructure Inspection
Drones collect data about the infrastructure for fossil fuel extraction, refining, and transport; wind turbines; solar panels; electric towers; and mining; to ensure systems are operational and safe.
Urban Planning and Mapping
Drones are used to survey a city and better understand its rhythms and flows, allowing planners to implement data-driven improvements to the area.
Delivery
Drones can deliver packages within buildings (factories, warehouses, and hospitals) and across cites (retail).
Photography
Photography drones are used for a wide range of needs, such as creating maps, rendering 3D objects, virtually touring al estate, covering sports and news, creating art, cinematography, and entertainment.
Space
NASA is adding drone-like helicopters to its missions to help look for signs of life on Mare. The drone can gather data about the planet’s terrain and survey areas where a Mars rover cannot reach.
Archeology
Archaeologists use artificial intelligence software that analyzes high resolution images taken by drones to find and study archaeological sites.
