Treaty of Paris
Formally ended the american revolution. Recognized the USA(America) as a country
Sons of Liberty
A group of people opposing the british that enacted the boston tea party
Absolute Monarchy
Means that kings or queens have no limitations on their powers
Boston Tea Party
An act when the sons of liberty dressed up as native americans and threw crates of tea in to the boston harbor.
Quartering Act
Part of the intolerable acts, which gave colonial governers the authority to seize unoccupied buildings to house british soldiers(redcoats)
Stamp Act
A law passed by the british parliment requiring a tax on stamps, so that every paper document had to have a paid stamp.
Royalists
Groups that had prospered under the fuedal system, wanted to restore the absolute monarchy.
Intolerable Act
It was a group of acts imposed on boston after the boston tea party. A series of laws that revoked Massachusets charter, closed the boston port, and established the quartering act.
Checks and Balances
Provides each branch of government with different powers. Ex. The judicial system only handles the courts, while the legislative branch cannot.
Declaration of Independance
A document written by Thomas Jefferson, listing greivances upon the colonies by britain and declared the US´s independance.
Continental Congress
A group of senators atleast on from each of the thirteen colonies, that meet twice during the american revolution.
Confederation
A union of independant states with a weak central government

The unrest outside of paris

More Radical Group, favored using extreme methods to abolish the monarchy
Napoleonic Code
A system of laws developed by Napoleon that was simple, consistent, and protected the liberties that the people had fought for.
