VLAN is a custom network which is created from one or more local area networks. It enables a group of devices available in multiple networks to be combined into one logical network.

What are some different types of VLAN?

A
  • Default VLAN (VLAN 1) - all switch ports become part of this VLAN until switch is configured, (command show vlan brief)
  • Native VLAN - used for untagged traffic
  • Management VLAN - used to access management capabilities (Som vi kan sätta ip adresser på 1 i taget VLAN)
