What is VLAN?
VLAN is a custom network which is created from one or more local area networks. It enables a group of devices available in multiple networks to be combined into one logical network.
What does VTP stand for?
VLAN Trunking Protocol
What does VTP do?
VLANs break up broadcast domains at layer 2. It synchronizes VLAN between switches
What is the difference between VTP Server and VTP Client?
You cant change VLAN configuration on VTP client. That is only possible on the VTP client.
What “modes” exist in VTP?
Server, Client, Transparent
What are the benefits with VLAN?
- Increased security
- Cost effective
- Better performance
- Less broadcast domains
What are some different types of VLAN?
- Default VLAN (VLAN 1) - all switch ports become part of this VLAN until switch is configured, (command show vlan brief)
- Native VLAN - used for untagged traffic
- Management VLAN - used to access management capabilities (Som vi kan sätta ip adresser på 1 i taget VLAN)
Does all ports by default belong to VLAN 1?

VLAN trunk is a point-to-point link that carries more than one
VLAN.
