Ergometrine

Carboprost

A

Syntocinon;
rapid administration hypotension
Short t1/2

Ergometrine; acts via 5 HT receptor
Slower onset, longer duration
Causes HTN, nausea and vomiting, caution in PET

prostaglandins PGE2 alpha;
Pulmonary vascular constriction and increased v:q shunting. Must NOT be given iv
