responsibilities
assess sclera, skin pigment, bowel movements, and lab results for liver function; assess for adverse effects of Vit D therapy; monitor serum calcium, magnesium, alkaline phosphatase, creatinine, and phosphate levels; monitor for signs of hypercalcemia
teaching
consume dietary sources of vitamin D; take D exactly as directed; take D w/ meals; report signs of excessive D; report yellowing of skin or eyes, pale bowel movements, or darkened urine
