1. First introduce myself and my role.
2. Wash hands using hand hygiene techniques or hand gel .
3. Gain consent. Identify if she is the right client by checking her maternity notes and hospital number and DOB then verbally confirm with her too.
4. Explain the procedure like Pulse examination is done to see the pulse rate is within the normal rate 50-100bpm and its important to check it so that we see how well the heart is working and the heart is pumping enough blood to the body.
5. We need watch to record the timing of the beat.
6. identify the pulse site at her radial artery between wrist bone .
7. Place your index finger and the middle finger on the site apply pressure on the site then slightly release then turn the timer on for 1 full minute then feel the beat . While recording check how well is your client, how slow is the pulse or faster the pulse is.
   8.document your finding on the clients maternity notes or electronically and discuss your findings with your client. And ask her how she is feeling if she is drinking enough water?
   If there is any abnormalities tell your senior Midwife and document everything.
   9.finelly wash your hands by using hand hygiene techniques or hand gel.
