Total visual loss in one eye
Damage to optic chiasm causes…
loss of peripheral vision in both visual fields
Damage to fibers of temporal aspect causes…
loss of the visual field covered by those fibers
Damage in optic tract causes…
loss of visual field (half in both eyes)
Damage in the lower optic radiation causes…
superior loss in visual field on contralateral side (a lesion on R side would lead to superior loss of L visual field)
Damage in the upper optic radiation causes…
inferior loss in visual field on contralateral side (a lesion on R side would lead to inferior loss of L visual field)
Damage in both the upper and lower optic radiation causes…
Contralateral homonymous – you will lose the whole visual space (both upper and lower)

rods (light/dark) & cones (color)
