Visual Field Defects Flashcards
What is right anopia?
Loss of vision in the right eye
What causes right anopia?
Caused by lesion to the right optic nerve prior to the optic chiasm
What is bitemporal hemianopsia?
The patient is unable to see in the temporal visual fields bilaterally
What causes bitemporal hemianopsia?
Lesions of the optic chiasm caused by pituitary tumor
What is left homonymous hemianopia?
Loss of vision in the right nasal and left temporal visual fields
What causes homonymous hemianopia?
Lesions of the optic tract
What is left upper quadrantic anopia?
pie in the sky –> loss of vision in the top left component of the visual field in each eye
What causes left upper quadrantic anopia?
Meyer loop dysfunction in the temporal lobe caused by:
- right temporal lesion
- MCA
What is left lower quadrantic anopsia?
Loss of vision in the bottom left component of the visual field in each eye
What causes left lower quadrantic anopsia?
Dysfucntion of the dorsal optic radiation in the parietal lobe caused by:
- MCA
- right parietal lobe lesion
What is left hemianopia with macular sparing?
loss of visual fields in the left bilaterally with central sparing of vision.
What causes left hemianopia with macular sparing?
PCA infarct
What is the cause of central scotoma?
macular degeneration
