Q

what is visual efficiency?

A

effectiveness of eye to gather visual information
accommodation disorders- ability to change focus of eye
binocular vision- combine images into one, strabismus (cross eyed) non-strabismus

Q

spinal galants response

A

Onset: 32 weeks gestation, 2 months
position: infant placed prone in alignment
procedure: stimulate along c7 to buttocks, infant will laterally flex toward stimulated side.
helps with birthing process and encourages movement-develop ROM in hip

Q

moro reflex

A

onset: 28 weeks, 5-6 months
position: supine with head in midline. support childs head while pulling child into a position halfway between supine and upright sitting. shoulders should abduct, elbows wrists and fingers extend (startle response)
asymmetry could lead to neurological disorders

Q

ATNR-asymmetrical tonic neck reflex

A

onset: 0-2 months, 4-6 months
position: supine
procedure: gently turn infants head to one side, fencing position
development of cross pattern movements
can lead to dyslexia, cognitive difficulties, poor sense of direction

Q

STNR- symmetrical tonic neck reflex

A

onset: 6 months, 8-12 months
position: quadruped
procedure: passively flex childs head forward and extend backwards, forward head flexion produces flexion of UE extension of LE, extension of head produces extension of UE and flexion of LE
