Q

Anterior cavity

A

-located between the lens and cornea
-filled with a fluid called “aqueus humor” to help nourish the lens, iris, and cornea

Q

posterior cavity

A

-located between the lense and retina
-has a jelly like substance calles “Vitreous humor” to give the eye its spherical shape

11
Q

what is the ciliary body in the vascular layer?

A

-made up of the ciliary muscle
-contraction and relaxtion enables the lens to change shape

12
Q

what happens if the ciliary muscles are:
Relaxed
contracted

A

relaxed: increase in diameter and thickness

contracted: decrease in diameter and lens become more spherical/thin

14
Q

What are the two regions of neural layer/retina?

A

1.Pigmented part:a thin pigment lines this area. contians rods and cones

2.Neural part: thick layer that actually makes up the the neural retina and is the house of the photoreceptors

16
Q

What are rods?

A

-used for light and absense of light
-nigh vision
-sensitive to movement
-125 million rods found on retina

17
Q

What are cones?

A

-used for color vision and more clear vision
-6 million cones found at the bottom of eye
-we have three types of rods that detect these primary colors: red, green, blue

18
Q

What two sites are cones most concentrated in?

A

the macula lutea and the fovea

19
Q

Mascula lutea

A

-yellow spot
-when you look at something directly and no rods are present at all. Just cones!!

20
Q

Fovea

A

the center of the mascula lutea. cones are the most concetrated here
