A

Mucus secreting glands that cover the epithilium. 2 functions:
1)decrease damage from dust and debree
2)create a fluid medium

Q

Process of smelling
5 steps

A

1.odor goes up the nasal cavity where it sticks to mucus membrane.
2.Diffuses across. molecules cause change in membrane permiablilty that cause an AP
3. AP gets sent to olafactory bulb
4.Goes to olafactory nerve
5. Hypothalamus to thalamus to olafactory cortex
