Where do viruses live?
They live within cells of other organism hosts, host cells.
How are viruses treated?
They’re unaffected by antibiotics but some can be treated using antiviral drugs.
Can you provide immunity against viruses?
Vaccines have been developed to provide immunity against some of the more serious viral infections, i.e. hepatitis, measles and mumps.
What conditions are caused by viruses?
Herpes simplex type 1, hepatitis, chickenpox, HPV (Human Papilloma Virus), AIDS, shingles (Herpes zoster), glandular fever (Epstein Barr Virus), mumps, COVID-19, influenza (the Flu).
What is AIDS?
Viral infection that effects the immune system with HIV.
What is Hepatitis?
viral infection of the liver with various organisms, including hep A,B,C,D,E or non A or non B.
What is COVID-19?
Spreads primarily through droplets of saliva or discharge from the nose when an infected person coughs or sneezes.
What is influenza?
An infectious disease caused by influenza viruses. Symptoms range from mild to severe and often include fever, runny nose, etc.
