A
  1. 7 day course of Acyclovir, valacyclovir, or Famiciclvir
  2. more effective within 72 hours of onset of lesions
  3. corticosteroids reduce acute symptoms and accelerate the rate of cutaneous healing. avoid in immunocompromised
