Victim definition
Any individual that suffers direct or threatened harm
Criminal offense
Means an offense against the person of an individual when physical or psychological harm occurs or property crimes in excess of $1,000

Medical care/injury assessment
Make sure victim is safe; check for injuries; contact EMS if needed
Trauma-informed victim interview
Build rapport; victim questioning and statement
Law enforcement responsibilities to the victim
Provide victim with incident report; help apply for victim benefits; information on progress of the case
