Vessels Flashcards
What comes together to form the subclavian vein?
Brachial and basilic veins -> axillary vein -> subclavian vein
Subclavian artery branches off into what?
Axillary artery -> brachial artery -> radial and ulnar arteries
What is more abundant, veins or arteries?
Veins, they are highly variable and frequently anastamose
How many parts are there to the axillary artery?
There are three parts to the axillary artery, each with their own branches.
Where is the 1st part of the axillary artery located?
Between the lateral border of the 1st rib and the medial border of the pectoralis minor
How many branches does the 1st part of the axillary artery have and what are they called?
One branch called the superior thoracic artery
Where is the 2nd part of the axillary artery located?
Posterior to the pectoralis minor
How many branches does the 2nd part of the axillary artery have and what are they called?
Two branches called the thoraco-acromial artery and the lateral thoracic artery
Where is the 3rd part of the axillary artery located?
Lateral border of the pectoralis minor to the inferior border of the teres major
How many branches does the 3rd part of the axillary artery have and what are they called?
Three branches called the subscapular artery, and the posterior and anterior circumflex humeral arteries
What are the branches of the subscapular artery called?
Circumflex scapular and thoracodorsal
What are the branches of the thoraco-acromial artery called?
Pectoral, deltoid, acromial, and clavicular
