Vertebral ligaments Flashcards
Where does the anterior longitudinal ligament originate and insert, and what is the function?
from occipital bone to sacrum, maintains stability of joints, limits extension and supports annulus fibrous
Where does the anterior longitudinal ligament originate and insert, and what is the function?
From pharygeal tubercle to sacral canal, supports the posterior aspect of vertebral bodies and the annulus fibrosus and limits flexion
Where does the ligamentum flavum originate and insert, and what is the function?
lamina of superior vertebra to lamina of inferior vertebra, connects two adjecent vertebrae and maintain the upright posture
Where does the ligamentum nuchae originate and insert?
external occipital protuberence and crest to C7
Where does the interspinous ligament originate and insert?
superior spinous process to inferior spinous process
Where does the intertransverse ligament originate and insert?
superior transverse process to inferior spinous process
Where does the supraspinous ligament originate and insert?
C7 to sacrum (behind spinous processes)
