How does the patrol conduct a RIEVC?

  • Stop the vehicle, identify yourself, and request credentials
  • Inform the driver that by the direction of the installation commander you are conducting vehicle checks. Have them pull the vehicle out of traffic.
  • Instruct the driver to put the vehicle in park, set the hand brake, turn off engine, open the glove compartment, exit the vehicle, open all doors, lift the hood, and open the trunk.
  • All passengers should exit the vehicle as well
  • One patrolmens will act as over watch while the other patrolman checks the vehicle
  • Check any box, bag, or container in the vehicle, which may reasonably contain weapons, narcotics, explosives, or USAF equipment.

K-9 will not enter the vehicle unless the MWD displays a change of behavior which is the possibility of a narcotic/explosive substance inside the vehicle.

  • Integrated defense forces owners/users will purge the restricted area immediately after departure of emergency personnel and vehicles
  • Conduct a security sweep of the affected area and route to/from the affected area to ensure all emergency personnel have departed the area and no unauthorized materials or personnel were present in the area.
