used to express an action or a state of being occurring now, at the present time
Ex.) She runs.
present tense
used to express something that has already occurred and doesn’t continue in the present. often formed with words ending in -d or -ed to clarify.
Ex.) They waited for John.
past tense
used to express something that will eventually occur. is formed with words like will or shall.
Ex.) I will clean my room later.
future tense
used to express something that occurred at an indefinite time in the past. is formed with have or has.
Ex.) The football team has played already.
present perfect
used to express something that will be completed before another future event or action. is formed with shall have or will have.
Ex.) We will have ate before the game starts later.
future perfect tense
used to show a continuing or ongoing action whether it be in the past, present, or future
progressive tense
clarifies a past event that was occurring
Ex.) Was Miles washing dishes earlier?
progressive past tense
clarifies an event going on now.
Ex.) Martin is running the 5K.
progressive present
clarifies an event or action that will happen through a process.
Ex.) Regina will be playing in the game
progressive future
