What does the present tense describe?
Describe things that happen routinely or to discuss facts that and universal truth that does not change.
It also used to describe policies, laws, rules and regulations that were enacted at one point in the past but still have their effects in the present.
What does simple past tense describe?
Events that occured and ended in the past. Formed by placing an ED on the verb.
What does the future tense describe?
Is used when discussing events that will have not yet occurred but will sometime in the future.
Formed using the helping verb “Will” before the main verb.
Can also use a form of “to be” + “going to”
What is the Present perfect tense?
When an action began in the past and continues into the present.
What is the form of present perfect tense?
“Have” or “Has”: + “Past Participle”
When the word “Since” appears what form do you use?
Present perfect tense
What other words can appears in the present perfect tense?
For; Over; and During
What is the past perfect tense?
Used when describing a past action that occurred before another past action.
What is the form of past perfect tense?
“Had” + “Past Participle”
What is the special situation for when past perfect tense must be used?
Must be used to indicate that an action or event was completed before a specified date or time period in the past.
When do you not have to use the past perfect tense form?
When the sequence of events is clear. Simple past tense for both is fine. Typically will see the words before and after.
When is the future perfect tense used?
Indicates that an event that has not happened will start before another even that has not happened.
What is the form of future perfect tense?
“will” + “have” + “Past Participle”

When is present continuous tense used?
We use present continuous to describe events that are TEMPORARILY ongoing in the present.
