ない-form
Group 1: Do masu and change the last letter to A and add nai. If the last sound turns to a single あ, replace it with わ. Ex 使わない.
Group 2: Add nai
Group 3: しない、こない
て-form
Group 1:
Group 2: Add て instead of る
Group 3: して、きて
Potential form
Group 1: Make e-sound and add ru. 話せる
Group 2: Add られる. 食べられる
Group 3: できる、こられる
Volitional form
Group 1: Make o-sound and add u. 行こう!
Group 2: Replace る with よう
Group 3: しよう、こよう
Passive form
Used when??
“られる”
Group 1: DICTIONARY FORM, change to a sound and add れる。If it ends in う、change to わ. 使われる。
Group 2: る=>られる。
Group 3: される、こられる
Use when:
- When a person’s action affects another person
- When you suffer or get troubled by something
- When you describe a fact objectively and the person who does the action is not mentioned
Additional
から is used when describing what something is made from (raw material), when it’s not obvious. If it’s obvious to the listener, で is used.
When something is created or discovered, the person who did it is indicated by using によって。
ThingはPersonによってVerb.
Conditional form
ければ。 Group 1: E-sound + ば Group 2: る=>れば Group 3: すれば、くれば ない、い-adjectives: ければ
Nouns and な-adjectives use なら instead, they can’t use this form.
Imperative (command) form
Group 1: e-sound. 行け!
Group 2: る=>ろ. 食べろ!
Group 3: しろ、こい
Prohibitive form
Attach な to dictionary form. 食べるな!
