Q

What are the basic information about Venus?

A

Venus is 28% closer to the Sun having an orbital period of 225 Earth days

  1. Venus has the most circular orbit of any planet
  2. Venus is roughly 95% the size, 81% the mass of the Earth
  3. Venus has a very similar density to the Earth
  4. Very similar gravity and escape velocity
  5. Venus is extremely reflective having an albedo of 59%

Q

Why there is no tectonic plate on Venus?

A
  1. No layer of flexible rock beneath crust (asthenosphere) due to lack of water
  2. Crust is too weak to break into plates due to high temperatures
