Q

Name the Borders of the Central Part of the Lateral Ventricle.

A

-The Central part extends posteriorly from the Interventricular foramen to the Splenium of the Corpus Callosum.

Roof - Corpus Callosum

Floor - Thalamus

Lateral - Body of Caudate Nucleus

Medial - Choroid Lamina Epithelialis (attached to Thalamus and to Fornix).

Q

Name the Borders of the Posterior Horn of the Lateral Ventricle.

What do we find on the Medial wall of the Posterior Horn.

What do we find on the Floor of the Posterior Horn.

A

Lateral wall - Tapetum of Corpus Callosum

Other walls - White Matter of Occipital lobe

Two Longitudinal Elevations on Medial Wall:
1) Bulb of Posterior Horn - caused by forceps major of Corpus callosum

2) Calcar Avis - caused by the Calcarine Sulcus.

On the Floor there is the Collateral Trigone (caused by the Collateral Sulcus).

Q

Name the Borders of the Fouth Ventricle.

A

Roof:

  • Upper Part – Formed by the Superior Medullary Velum
  • Lower Part – Formed by the Inferior Medullary Velum, Nodule of Cerebellum, Choroid Lamina Epithelialis.

Floor:
Rhomboid Fossa.

Q

How does CSF leave the Fourth Ventricle and where are these exits?

A

-CSF leaves via the Median Aperture and the Lateral Aperture.

Median Aperture:

  • Opens into CerebelloMedullary Cistern
  • Found in the Angle between Cerebellum and Medulla Oblongata.

Lateral Aperture:

  • Located in the Cerebellopontine Angle.
  • Opens into PontoCerebellar Cistern
  • Easy to identify from Outside because part of choroid plexus projects out forming the Flower Basket of Bochdalek.
