Ventral cavity
A
lined by a serous membrane, whose role in that cavity is to help reduce the friction with the organs when they rub against each other or the walls of the cavities themselves. These membranes are covered by a layer of fluid called serous fluid that is secreted by the epithelium of the serous membrane.

Thoracic Cavity
A
the two layer membrane is called the pleura. The outer layer of the membrane is called the (PARIETAL PLEURA) while the inner is called the (VISCERAL PLEURA).
