Ventilation Flashcards
1
Q
A
PVR(6000ml/min)= Tidal volume (0.5L) x Breathing rate
5L= 500 ml
BR= PVR/ tidal volume= 6000/500= 12 breatrhs per min
2
Q
A
The pull of the diaphragm and the antagonists interraction between the exterrnal and internal intercostal muscles in bringing about a reduction in pressure in the thoracic cavity.
This results in air moving in and the lung volunme increasing.
3
Q
A
Oxygen therapy decreases the breathing rate.
This means tyeh diffusion of carbon dioixde out of teh blood reduces.
Resulting in increased carbon dioxide concentration in the blood.
4
Q
A
-Increased carbon dioxide reacts with water in the blood to turn into HCO- and H+.
This is acidic so the pH will decrease.
