What are the maximum amount of air bags one can stack and how do you stack them?
- Two bags maximum when stacking.
- Stack from largest to smallest.
- Ensure nipples are on opposing sides.
- Line up X’s on each airbag and under lift point
Describe the 5, 10, 20 rule.
- 5” side airbag
- 10” steering wheel
- 20” passenger airbag
What is an inner circle?
Any hazard on, under, inside, and directly around the vehicle: Leaks, unstable vehicle, air bags not deployed, victim, etc… Where extrication/Disentanglement/rescue takes place.
What are the spreading forces and lenghts of of the T41 & T59 Telescoping Rams.
Both are: 1st piston: 29,830lbs 2nd piston: 14,830lbs
T41- 18” retracted - 41” extended
T59 - 24” retracted - 59” extended
How do you stabilize a vehicle before extrication?
- Set car in park Set parking brake Turn off ignition Remove keys and give to Capt.
- Set up step chaulks (triangle) three points of contact
- Remove air from tires in order to have vehicle resting on chaulks
- Use Rescue 42’s on vehicles not upright
What are the species of wood for our cribbing?
Douglas Fir or Southern Pine Does not splinter when fails. Gives early warning signs prior to failure.

Failure is slow, noisy crushing which provides advanced warning of failure.
