Code 1 defect ?

A

Code 1 – Off the Run defect – 2 hours to repair or replace defective front line pumping appliance, 4 hours for all other vehicles

Code 2 defect

A

Code 2 – On the Run defect – but serious enough to warrant repair or replacement - within 5 days

Code 3 defect

A

Code 3 – On the Run defect - minor defects that will be rectified the next time the vehicle is in Babcock Critical Services Ltd’s workshop or within a maximum of 13 weeks. (Where a vehicle has 10 or more Code 3 defects these are reclassified as Code 2 and must be cleared within 5 days).

A

The Handover requires the vehicle to be checked by a competent person, (for mechanical repairs this will normally be a Brigade driver, however it might be appropriate for repairs to stowage etc., to be checked by a firefighter or other competent person), to establish that the work has been completed satisfactorily

All tyre defects must be reported to Babcock Critical Services Ltd using the TLG1 Form
and Fleet Support Desk

Defect in one of twin wheeled appliances on a shout

A

Vehicles with twin rear wheels which sustain a tyre defect in just ONE of the twin rear tyres whilst proceeding to an
emergency call can proceed to its destination at reduced speed, inform Brigade Control. The vehicle can also return to its
base location at reduced speed after Informing Brigade Control that the vehicle is not available for fire calls. B.O. 321/7
(a)(i) refers. On return to Base Location, Follow the Flow Chart for Tyre Defects at Base Location.
