Lights
proper color, working, not broken or cracked, contains no moisture inside
Windshield
Clean, not broken or cracked, vehicle inspection sticker is in date. Free of obstructions
Windshield wipers
In good condition, securely mounted. Wiper fluid level full
Leaks
No fluids on ground or underside of engine. No air leaks heard
Front tires
Proper inflation according to nomenclature plate, front tires have four thirty seconds of an inch tread depth, free of damage
Rear tires
Proper inflation according to nomenclature plate, rear tires have 2/32 of an inch tread depth, free of damage. Properly spaced apart with no foreign objects in between
Mudflaps
Not missing or torn, properly secured
Valve stems
Free of damage, caps attached
Rims
Not bent, cracked, or welded repairs
Lug nuts
None missing, no shiny threads or rust trails
Outer hub oil seal
Not leaking , proper level, no missing bolts
Mirrors
Clean, securely mounted, not broken, adjustable

Doors (interior and exterior)
Latches in good condition, grab handles are secured, opens and closes easily. Windows clean, not broken, and operate. Weather stripping securely in place. Lighting systems operational. Locks engage and disengage.
Steps
Not broken, clean, free of oil, grease snow and ice
Fuel and DEF
Verifies fuel tank is secured with cap and free of foreign objects. minimum fuel tank of 3/4 tank
Cab raise
Secures items inside cab. Verifies no overhead obstructions. Raises and safely secures cab. Cab lift cylinders not leaking and free of damage. Cab lift fluid reservoir at proper level. Manual cab lift\lower is operational.
Cab locks 
Undamaged, free of debris, and operational.
Steering
Gearbox is mounted properly. No missing nuts bolts or pins. Hoses not leaking. Checks fluid. Identifies correct replacement fluid.
Batteries
Clean and securely mounted
Oil
Checks oil level with dipstick. Identify‘s location or locations to fill engine oil. Identifies correct replacement fluid.
Transmission
Checks fluid levels. Identify as location or locations to fill fluid. identifies correct replacement fluid.
Belt
While engine is not running, inspects for proper tension, excessive wear, breaks, or cracking.
Radiator
Cap is closed, not leaking. Hoses are secure and not cracked or leaking. Checks level and identifies correct replacement fluid.
Turbocharger
Securely mounted, free of damage.
Air compressor
Securely mounted, hoses are secure and not cracked or leaking.
Alternator
Securely mounted, no missing parts, wires in good condition and not frayed.
Starter
Securely mounted, no missing parts, wires in good condition and not frayed.
Fuel water separator
Securely mounted, not leaking, free of damage.
Front suspension
No damage or missing components. No leaning of vehicle
Front brakes
Hoses and lines are mounted securely, not leaking, cracked, or frayed.
Drive shaft
Not bent or damaged, coupling and u-joint appear secure.
Frame
Not cracked or damaged
Cab lower
Verifies all personnel and equipment is clear prior to safely lowering cab
Seatbelts
All seatbelts latch securely mounted securely. seatbelt alarms operational
Steering wheel
No more than 10° of free play
Mirrors
Adjustment controls operational
Door alarms
audible and visual alarms active as necessary when exterior compartment doors are open
Footpedals
In good condition, operate freely, free of foreign obstructions
Instrument panel
ABS light comes on and then turns off when battery turned on. Gauges are within normal operating ranges and indicators work properly
Lighting indicators
Left and right turn signals, four way flashers, and highbeam indicators working properly
Horn
All horns working properly. Driver side/officer side foot pedals, steering wheel horn, pump panel horn.
Siren
All emergency audible warning devices function properly. Driver side and officer side foot pedal and driver side/officer side siren brake
Rearview camera
Camera screen is clean and clear, speakers function properly
Back up alarm
Functions properly
Heater and defroster
Air flows and proper temperatures
Windshield wipers
Operate properly, wiper fluid sprays properly
Airbrake alarm checks
With the motor off but the ignition on, depress the parking brake. Bleed air from tanks by pumping the service brake. Note that the audible and visual alarms should activate between 60 to 80 psi. Note the parking brake should automatically engage between 20 and 40 psi.
Air compressor build up
Start motor. The air tanks pressure should build to 100 psi within 60 seconds
Parking brake check
With engine running apply only parking brake to make sure it will hold the vehicle in first gear at idle. This must be done in an area where safe to do so and with the driver in the cab and ready to apply the service break. note if the vehicle pulls to one side, and unusual feel in the break, or a delayed stopping action.
Exterior lights
All emergency and scene lighting is proper color, working, not broken or cracked, contains no moisture inside.
Transfer case/power takeoff
Not leaking, free of damage, not missing any hardware.
Drop chains
Mountain securely, hoses are secured and not leaking, no damage or missing parts. Engage and disengage.
Differential
Not leaking, no damage, no missing nuts or bolts.
Airbags if equipped
Mountain securely, not leaking, no damage.
Leaf springs
Not shifted or out of place, not correct, broken or missing
Spring mounts
Mounted securely, u-bolts present, not cracked or broken.
Pump shifter
Seated in the driver seat with foot covering the service brake pedal, the parking break applied, with the motor running, with the transmission in neutral, and a reading of 0 mph when operating. Verifies indicators of the status of the shifter before exiting the cab
Manual pump shift
Notes the position of the manual pump shift when pump is engaged
Pump Controls
Verifies that all pull handles, wheels, levers, buttons, and other controls are correctly labeled, free of damage, and are operational.
Pump Gauges
Verifies all gauges are clean, clear, not cracked or damaged, and operational.
Water tank
Verifies that the water tank is full both from the pump panel and visually from the top of the engine
Foam tank
Verifies that the foam tank is full and identify as correct foam to top off
Airhorn
Verifies airhorn works from pump panel control
Relief valves
Verifies relief valves are present, not capped, and correctly set
Adapters
Verifies all adapters on exterior of vehicle are securely mounted
Ladder arm
Hydraulic ladder arm is operational, no missing hardware, ground ladders properly secured
Fire hose
Verifies that fire hose is racked and placed correctly
Logbook
Ensures all required paperwork is present and current
Report
Enters report in vehicle inspections on FRD Internet
M5
Enters deficiencies into M5 when needed. Makes appropriate notifications for issues
Air tanks
No damage, not leaking, hoses securely attached. Bleeder valves operate freely
