What is the purpose of SOP 03.06.03?
Establish a policy for utilization, management, and maintenance of reserve apparatus available to extend operational resources.
What is a Ready Reserve Apparatus?
Is provided by volunteer fire and rescue departments and is staffed as an additional unit when volunteers are available or when needed as frontline apparatus. Ready reserve apparatus is equipped and maintained at the same level of operational readiness as frontline units.
What is a Reserve Apparatus?
Vehicles that were removed from frontline service and are utilized when frontline units are out of service for maintenance or other issues.
What are the two main differences between ready reserve and reserve apparatus?
1) Ready reserve apparatus are volunteer owned, reserve apparatus are county owned.
2) Ready reserve apparatus are outfitted with the same tools, technology, equipment, and supplies as their frontline equivalents. Reserve apparatus do not not carry equipment beyond hose and all equipment must be switched to the reserve from the frontline apparatus.
