What is vegetative propagation
A
The production of plant clones from non reproductive tissues e.g roots, leaves etc

What is Cloning
A
The process of producing genetically identical cells or organisms from the cell of an existing organism.

What is a Rhizome
A
- Stem structures that grow horizontally underground.
- They have nodes from which new shoots and roots develop
e. g bamboo

What is a Stolon
A
Similar to rhizomes
- they grow above ground
- new shoots and roots can either develop from nodes or from the end of the stolon
e. g strawberries

What is a Sucker
A
- shoots that grow from sucker buds (undeveloped shoots) present on the shallow roots of a parent plant.
- e.g elm trees

What is a Tuber
A
- large underground plant structure
- act as a food store
- covered in eyes
- eyes are able to sprout and form a new plant
e. g potatoes

What is a Bulb
A
- underground food store
- new bulbs are able to develop from the original bulb and form new individual plants
e. g onion
