Vector And Bitmap Flashcards
1
Q
What is a vector image?
A
A vector image is a non pixelated image, made up of calculated points that move based on the resizing of the picture
2
Q
What is a Bitmap image?
A
A Bitmap image is made up from pixels. These may be distorted through resizing however they take up less processing.
3
Q
Advantaged of Vectors
A
- Doesn’t distort after resizing
- Less memory taken up
4
Q
Advantages of Bitmap
A
- Less processing required
- Greater range of editing available through Paint or Photoshop etc.
- Universal file type, photographs taken are shown as bitmap images
5
Q
Disadvantages of Vectors
A
- Takes up more processing
- Photographs can’t be put into vector form easily.
6
Q
Disadvantages of Bitmaps
A
- Lower quality once enlarged, distorted and stretched easily
- Take up more memory as each individual pixel is stored opposed to a calculation.
