Describe the characteristics of: Character
Shapes used to create letters, numbers, symbols. Grouped in Character sets, e.g. Arial. Upper/Lowercase characters.
Describe the characteristics of: Paragraph
Section of text, start and end signaled by line break and /or indentation of first line of text. Breaks up text, tends to be about a single subject/topic
Describe the characteristics of: Sections
Paragraph formatted differently to rest of text, e.g. left justified, all other text in column format. Section break is used at the end to stop the formatting of previous section.
Describe the characteristics of: Frames
Area where text/image can be placed. Frame can be moved about. In DTP frames can be linked - text flow.
Describe the characteristics of: Headers and Footers
Header - Top of page, contains logos, titles, author name. Footer - bottom of page, page number, date, filename. Automatically appears on every page.
Describe the characteristics of: Footnotes
Identified by superscript number above a word. Footnote appears bottom of page, contains extra info about the word identified. End note, identified in same way but appears at end of document. Both mostly used in academic papers.
Describe the characteristics of: Pages
Contains text, images, tables, charts. Has margins. Page is all the contents of a document printed on a single piece of paper.
